TodayI’m sharing my favorite easy and simple recipe to make hummus at home. I’m Syrian so definitely biased on this one, however, hummus is hands down one of the most versatile and budget-friendly plant-based protein sources.

  • 4 cloves garlic

  • ½ cup tahini

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 3-4 ice cubes (yes, ice!)

  • Salt & Pepper, to taste



Substitutions:


Lemon Juice: Lime juice can be used instead of lemon juice for a slightly tangy and citrusy flavor.


Garlic: If you're not a fan of raw garlic, you can use roasted garlic for a milder taste or garlic powder for convenience.


Aleppo Pepper: Crushed red pepper flakes or paprika can be used instead of Aleppo pepper for a touch of heat.

Step 1: Blend Ingredients


  1. In a blender, combine 2 cans (15 ounces) of chickpeas (rinsed and drained) or 3 cups of cooked chickpeas, ½ cup of lemon juice, 4 cloves of garlic, ½ cup of tahini, 1 tsp of ground cumin, 3-4 ice cubes, and a pinch of salt and pepper.

  2. Blend until the mixture becomes creamy and smooth. You're aiming for that dreamy consistency!
